Police arrested six men, including five alleged online gamblers and one drug suspect, in two separate raids at Pagla Bazar under West Pagla Union in Shantiganj, Sunamganj.

According to police sources, a team from Shantiganj Police Station led by Sub-Inspectors (SI) Md. Rakibul Islam, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Nur Uddin Ahmed, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ripon Munda conducted a raid in front of the Pagla Bazar Dak Bungalow.

The team arrested five men for their involvement in online gambling: Badsha Mia (35), Motibur Rahman (30), Nazmul Ahmed (40), Hiron Mia (26), and Abul Mia (45). SI Rakibul Islam filed a case against them under Section 20(2) of the Cyber Security Act.

In a separate raid on the same day, SI Md. Ali Akbar arrested Md. Shakil Hossain (22) in front of the Madhuban Sweets Shop in Pagla Bazar. Police recovered 10 pieces of Yaba tablets from his possession. A narcotics case was filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shantiganj Police Station confirmed that all six suspects have been sent to court. He added that regular police drives will continue to maintain law and order in the area.
