


A mobile court sentenced a 20-year-old youth named Masud to 10 months in prison for smoking cannabis and behaving disorderly in Monohardi, Narsingdi.
The drive was conducted on Friday, August 14, in the afternoon at Pratapmohol area under Gotashia Union of the upazila. The mobile court was led by Md. Sajeb Mia, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Monohardi Upazila.
The convict, Masud, is the son of Kofil Uddin of Bhatgaon village in Shibpur Upazila.
According to sources, acting on a tip-off, a team of the mobile court led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajeb Mia conducted a raid in the Pratapmohol area in the afternoon. At the time, Masud was seen smoking cannabis and behaving disorderly. Later, he was detained and searched. One packet of cannabis and smoking equipment were recovered from his possession.
The mobile court then sentenced Masud to 10 months in jail on the spot under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 (Amended 2023).
A police team led by ASI Sohannur of Monohardi Police Station participated in the operation.
Speaking about the drive, Monohardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmudul Hasan said,“The Upazila Administration has a strict stance against drugs. Based on secret information also regular operations are being conducted against drug users and dealers. Such drives will continue to eradicate drugs.”
