


A mobile court in Monohardi upazila has sentenced a known drug dealer to 10 months in prison as part of an ongoing anti-narcotics campaign.
On Wednesday July 29 authorities arrested 36-year-old Rajib Chandra De in the Hindupara area of Monohardi Municipality. He was detained for consuming illicit drugs and causing a public nuisance. During the raid, police recovered a packet of ganja (cannabis) one Yaba tablet and related drug paraphernalia from his possession.
According to neighborhood residents Rajib has long been involved in the local drug trade frequently disrupting community peace with his unruly behavior.
Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajib Mia led the mobile court handing down the 10-month simple imprisonment sentence under the Narcotics Control Act. ASI Md. Emdadul Haque of the Monohardi Police Station assisted in the operation.
Following the sentencing Magistrate Sajib Mia reaffirmed the local administration's commitment to public safety stating that routine drives to eradicate illegal drugs from the upazila will continue.
