


Police in Saidpur, Nilphamari have arrested four suspected drug dealers during separate anti-drug operations aimed at curbing illicit narcotics in the region.
In a targeted raid late Friday night, police arrested 38-year-old Rafiqul Islam locally known as Nagaraj near the Railway Police Lines in the Notun Babupara area. Authorities recovered 10 pieces of Yaba tablets from his possession.
This arrest followed a series of separate operations conducted the previous day in the Koya Mistripara and Lakshmanpur areas. During these drives, police apprehended three other suspected drug traffickers identified as Md. Khurshid, Sri Prakash Chandra Roy and Mohammad Russel Mamun.
Saidpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Islam Reza confirmed the arrests. He stated that formal cases have been filed against all four detainees under the Narcotics Control Act. Following legal procedures, the accused have been produced before a court and sent to jail.
Local law enforcement continues to maintain a strict stance against the local drug trade also promising further drives to ensure public safety in the upazila.
