Police arrested 123 people in a special anti-drug drive conducted across 11 districts of Chattogram Range on Wednesday.
The operation led to the seizure of 5,068 Yaba tablets, 37 kilograms and 311 grams of ganja and 250 milliliters of alcohol. Twenty-nine drug-related cases have been filed in connection with the drive.
Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Kuddus Chowdhury said the arrested individuals include 38 drug dealers, one drug carrier and 84 drug users. Of these, 78 people have already been sentenced to varying prison terms through mobile courts, which also collected fines totaling Tk 29,700.
DIG Abdul Kuddus said the anti-drug campaign also carried out in the public interest will continue.
