Journalism Training Workshop Held in Bheramara, Kushtia

A day-long training workshop aimed at enhancing journalistic ethics and combatting misinformation was held on Friday for local reporters in Bheramara, Kushtia. Organized by the Bheramara branch of the Khulna Divisional Press Club, the event trained 20 journalists at the club's office near Dhaka Stand.

The comprehensive program covered critical aspects of modern media including objective reporting, fact-checking, investigative reporting and digital journalism. Following the training sessions, participants engaged in an open discussion and received certificates of completion.

Club President Saiful Islam chaired the event, while General Secretary Zahid Hasan moderated the proceedings. Key speakers included Jahangir Hossain Jewel, former president of the Bheramara Press Club; Asman Ali founder of the Kushtia Sahitya Parishad and Abdul Alim, CEO of Sathi Food Park.

Addressing the attendees, veteran speakers emphasized the vital role journalists play in delivering accurate and reliable information to the public. They urged reporters to prioritize truth, impartiality, and public interest above all else. A major focus of the workshop was the rising threat of digital misinformation with senior leaders strictly advising participants to verify social media claims before publication to prevent the spread of baseless rumors.

Other notable contributors to the discussion included Mominuzzaman Bidyut, Abdul Hakim Sumon, Abu Obaida Al Mahadi and Abdullah Al Mamun, who collectively reinforced the need for responsible, evidence-based journalism in today's fast-paced digital landscape.
