Hollywood actor Nicole Kidman has opened up about her recent divorce from musician Keith Urban with describing it as a period of intense vulnerability. In a candid new interview with Vogue, the 59-year-old also reflected on her first marriage to Tom Cruise and the early warnings that it could derail her career.
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban in September 2025 citing irreconcilable differences with the separation finalised in January. Speaking about the split, she admitted the outcome was entirely unexpected.
"You make all these plans and you have all these ideas of what it’s all going to be like and then it’s not" Kidman said. "There was a point where I was very fearful and deeply vulnerable but I can either just curl up or I can just go forward with an enormous amount of hope."
Despite navigating her 2001 divorce from Cruise under heavy media scrutiny, Kidman noted that going through a high-profile split again offered no shortcuts and stating "It’s all new. Every time!"
Reflecting on her 1990 marriage to Cruise when she was just 23, Kidman recalled industry insiders warning her that being the wife of a massive movie star would overshadow her own ambitions. "I remember people saying to me ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career" she shared. At the time, she recalled being so madly in love that she was fully prepared to throw her career away, ignoring the warnings.
On a lighter note, Kidman also revealed how she manages public life today with sharing that she sometimes wears a dark wig and glasses to go dancing anonymously with friends.
