


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated a nationwide initiative to excavate 54 canals today, starting with a project in Sahapara, Kaharol Upazila.
The Prime Minister officially launched the program at 12:30 PM on Monday by personally joining the excavation work with a spade. The initiative aims to modernize irrigation and manage water resources more effectively across the country.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister departed Dhaka at 9:30 AM via a domestic flight to Saidpur, proceeding to the project site in Dinajpur by road.
Local residents expressed significant enthusiasm for the project. Community members in Sahapara noted that the restoration of these canals is expected to resolve long-standing water scarcity issues and improve agricultural productivity in the region.
