


Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr Syed Abdullah Md Taher has said that preventing extortion, terrorism, and drug trafficking will be his main responsibilities if elected.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the main election office of the Scales symbol in the Comilla-11 (Chauddagram) constituency on Thursday afternoon. The event was held at Chauddagram Bazar.
Dr Taher said that no injustice would be allowed in Chauddagram if he was elected. “For the last five years, we have not taken even Tk 10 from traders in Chauddagram market. Preventing extortion is my responsibility, and stopping terrorism is one of my goals,” he said.
He also spoke about efforts to curb drug smuggling in the border areas, claiming that a half-kilometre road was levelled to prevent vehicles from transporting phensedyl into the area.
“Our youths were being destroyed by drugs and alcohol. We took steps to stop this,” he said.
Dr Taher pledged to work for a Chauddagram where people’s rights are protected and where residents can live in peace, safety, and dignity, with access to education and moral values.
The programme was chaired by Chauddagram Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Mahfuzur Rahman and conducted by General Secretary Belal Hossain.
Among others, Jamaat Central Majlis-e-Shura member Abdus Sattar, Comilla South District Jamaat Amir Advocate Shahjahan, former Chauddagram Sadar Union chairman Abul Kashem, former Upazila Jamaat Amir VP Shahabuddin, Khelafat Majlis Chairman Shahjalal, NCP leader Mamun Majumder, Municipality Amir Maulana Ibrahim, and Upazila Chhatra Shibir President Mozammel Haque also spoke at the event.
