


Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen held a formal meeting with Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, on Tuesday.
The meeting took place at 11:00 AM at the Opposition Leader’s office in the capital's Bashundhara residential area. Officials described the atmosphere as cordial and warm.
During the exchange, Ambassador Yao Wen congratulated Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on his election as the Leader of the Opposition and expressed his best wishes for his tenure.
According to Mujibul Alam, Senior Publicity Assistant of Jamaat’s Central Publicity Department, the two leaders engaged in an open discussion on matters of mutual interest. Both parties emphasized their commitment to strengthening economic, political, commercial, and diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and China. They further expressed hope for deeper bilateral cooperation and development in the years ahead.
The Chinese delegation included Deputy Head of Mission Dr. Liu Yuying and Director of the Political Department Zhang Jing. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was accompanied by Jamaat Secretary General Mia Ghulam Parwar and Barrister Mir Ahmed bin Quasem Arman, Member of Parliament and Special Advisor on Foreign Affairs to the Jamaat Ameer.
