Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has announced a Tk.50 lakh grant to rehabilitate the attack-damaged Radda MCH-FP Centre in the capital's Mirpur.
Inspecting the site on Monday (September 28), Dr. Shafiqur condemned the recent attack with vandalism and looting at the healthcare facility also promising further financial support if needed to restore full medical services for local residents.
According to a press statement issued by Jamaat's Dhaka City North Publicity Secretary Ataur Rahman Sarkar, the party chief expressed grave concern over the incident and the country's deteriorating law and order situation.
Dr. Shafiqur alleged that miscreants were committing mob terrorism across the country under the shelter of the ruling party. He demanded the immediate arrest and legal prosecution of all perpetrators involved also regardless of political affiliation and called on the government to ensure the swift reopening of the health center.
Senior Jamaat leaders with Central Executive Council Member and Dhaka City Secretary Dr. Mohammad Rezaul Karim and Assistant Secretaries Mahfuzur Rahman and Dr. Fakhruddin Manik accompanied the Ameer during the inspection.
