Concerns Raised Over Rising Human Rights Violations in Pabna

The District Human Rights Defender Network Committee has expressed deep concern over a surge in "sensational" crimes across Pabna. During its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, members highlighted an alarming rise in murder, rape, and kidnapping across various upazilas.

Held at the Jhalak Mahila Sangstha hall room, the session was organized by Bachte Chai Samaj Unnayan Samity in collaboration with the Manhak Sanskriti Foundation (MSF).

The quarterly report, presented by MSF District Monitoring Officer Kamal Ahmed Siddiqui, indicated that human rights violations are increasing at a steady rate. Participants specifically noted that brutal crimes against women and children are reaching critical levels, describing the trend as a "bad sign for the state and society."

District Network Convener Abdul Matin Khan presided over the meeting, while MSF Coordinator Md. Tipu Sultan attended as chief guest. Other notable speakers included Advocate Kamrunnahar Jolly, President of Zila Mahila Parishad, and Hena Goswami, General Secretary of the YWCA.

The committee concluded by demanding immediate legal action and strict punishment for those involved in these criminal activities to restore public safety.
