Dengue Cases Double in Jhalokati 7 High-Risk Areas Identified

Dengue cases are surging in Jhalokati with new patients admitted daily. In response, the Health Department has designated seven neighborhoods in the district as high-risk zones.

These vulnerable areas are Katpatti Banda Ghat Banshpatti, Kalabagan Station Road City Park, and Fakir Bari. Authorities are urging immediate strengthening of mosquito control and public awareness campaigns in these locations. Currently 40 dengue patients are hospitalized across the district: 26 at Jhalokati Sadar Hospital, 11 at Rajapur Health Complex, and three at Nalchiti Upazila Health Complex.

Tragically the outbreak has already claimed the lives of two students from the Kalabagan and Fakir Bari areas. The Health Department stressed that preventing further deaths requires both personal vigilance and coordinated community action.

Dr. Abual Hassan, Medicine Consultant at Jhalokati Sadar Hospital warned that infections have nearly doubled compared to the same period last year. He advised residents to seek immediate medical testing if they develop a fever eliminate stagnant water around their homes and take strict measures to prevent mosquito breeding.
