Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed authorities to ensure the nationwide rollout of the Family Card programme is fully transparent and supported by an accurate beneficiary database.

During a Monday meeting at the Cabinet Division in the Bangladesh Secretariat, officials reviewed the phased expansion of the initiative, which fulfills a major commitment from the BNP’s election manifesto. The Prime Minister emphasized that modern technology must be utilized to smoothly execute the program across the country.

To guarantee fairness and efficiency, Rahman stressed the critical need for a reliable, widely accepted database to properly identify genuine recipients. He instructed all involved agencies to maintain the highest standards of accountability during data collection, verification, and final beneficiary selection. Better coordination among relevant ministries is also essential for the practical implementation of this roadmap.

The high-level meeting included Social Welfare Minister Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, and Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, alongside other senior officials and advisors. This concerted effort aims to ensure that the vital benefits of the Family Card directly reach those who truly need them in a fair and efficient manner.
