


Police have arrested a 35-year-old construction worker accused of raping and murdering a five-year-old girl in Narail Sadar Upazila.
The suspect, identified as Rabiul Shikder alias Ravi, was apprehended by local residents in the Dattapara area of Auriya Union on Tuesday morning. After being subjected to a mob beating, he was rescued by authorities and taken into custody.
The tragedy unfolded on Monday afternoon when the victim, Jannatul, daughter of Mofizur Rahman from Ramchandrapur village, went missing. Relatives later discovered the child's lifeless body hidden under a quilt inside Rabiul's home. The family alleges the child was sexually assaulted before being killed.
Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ajay Kundu confirmed the arrest. "Upon receiving information that locals had detained the suspect a police team rushed to the scene to apprehend him," OC Kundu stated.
The accused son of Atiyar Rahman from the same village, remains in the custody of the district police. Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings and formal investigations are currently underway.
