Husband Surrenders After Beating Wife to Death in Narail

A 33-year-old housewife Jasmine Begum, was beaten to death with a hammer by her husband over a family dispute in Lohagara upazila Narail on Sunday. Following the fatal assault the accused Md. Jasim Sheikh (36) voluntarily surrendered to the Lohagara Police Station.

The incident occurred around 12:30 PM in Karfa village of Mallikpur union. According to family members Jasim a construction worker has a history of severe drug addiction. The couple had been married for 10 years and share an eight-year-old daughter. Relatives noted that they frequently argued over various family issues.

During an altercation on Sunday afternoon Jasim allegedly struck Jasmine on the head with a hammer leaving her critically injured and unconscious. Locals and family members rushed her to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. As her condition rapidly deteriorated she was transferred to a hospital in Dhaka, where the on-duty emergency doctor declared her dead later that afternoon.

Ajit Kumar Roy Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Police Station confirmed the details, stating that Jasim walked into the station to surrender shortly after the attack.

"Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain order following the murder" Roy added. Authorities confirmed that Jasmine's body will be handed over to her family for burial once all legal and post-mortem procedures are completed.
