Drug Dealers Assault Police Officer During Raid in Narail

A police officer was severely injured after being ambushed by a group of alleged drug dealers during an anti-narcotics raid in Lahuria, Lohagara upazila, on Sunday evening.

Acting on a tip-off, a four-member team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Khokon Howlader from the Lahuria Police Investigation Center raided a tea stall near the Magura Bus Stand at around 7:30 PM.

During the physical search of a primary suspect, identified as Md. Harun Rashid, several accomplices armed with local weapons attacked the police. The assailants—identified by police as Harun, Kamal, Shyamal, Akidul, and up to a dozen others—slashed and beat SI Khokon, leaving him with serious bleeding wounds. During the chaos, the attackers snatched between 300 and 400 Yaba pills from the scene and fled.

Locals immediately rescued the injured sub-inspector and rushed him to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. Dr. Saidullah Himel, the attending physician, confirmed that SI Khokon is receiving treatment and is currently out of danger.

Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdur Rahman confirmed the assault. A formal case has been registered at the station, and law enforcement has launched a drive to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
