


An armed robbery took place at the residence of timber merchant Nur Mohammad in Basupti village under Kashipur union of Lohagara upazila, Narail.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 AM on Friday (June 19).
According to Nur Mohammad, a gang of seven to eight masked robbers gained entry into their stilt house by cutting through the iron window grills on the western side. Once inside, the attackers held the merchant's wife, Farida Begum, their son, Shahriar Sohan Sheikh, and daughter, Lima, hostage at gunpoint with local weapons. The robbers then looted ৳7,000 in cash and two bhori (loads) of gold ornaments before fleeing.
Upon receiving the news, a team from the Lohagara Police Station visited and inspected the crime scene.
Ajit Kumar Roy, Inspector (Investigation) of Lohagara Police Station, stated that law enforcement has launched an initial probe to uncover the details of the crime. He added that official legal action will be pursued as soon as a formal written complaint is filed by the family.
