With of fasting behind us, Eid-ul-Fitr is just around the corner. Many people are busy shopping for the celebration. However, long hours in crowded markets, walking under the sun, and being outside while fasting can cause fatigue, dizziness, and dehydration. Without proper planning, the excitement of Eid shopping can quickly turn into physical discomfort. Here are some tips to shop safely and comfortably during Ramadan.
1. Shop at Cooler Times
Avoid shopping during intense sunlight. Afternoon or post-Iftar shopping reduces strain on the body. Choosing air-conditioned markets or malls can also lower the risk of dehydration.
2. Stay Hydrated During Sehri and Iftar
Even though water cannot be consumed during the day, drinking enough fluids at Sehri and Iftar is essential. Coconut water, lemon water, fruits, and fiber-rich foods help maintain energy levels. Avoid excessive oily and sugary foods, which can increase fatigue.
3. Plan Your Shopping
Going out without a plan wastes both time and energy. Make a list of essential items to reduce unnecessary wandering and finish shopping more quickly.
4. Dress Comfortably
Wear loose, light-colored clothes to stay cool and soft-soled shoes to reduce fatigue. Carrying a hand fan or wet tissue can also help in hot and crowded areas.
5. Listen to Your Body
If you feel dizzy, weak, or notice blurred vision, take a break. Staying healthy is as important as preparing for Eid.
Fasting slightly changes the body’s daily rhythm, so planned shopping can reduce fatigue and make Eid preparations more enjoyable.
