Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi clarified that there is no ceasefire in Lebanon, stating that military operations will persist until the threat to northern Israeli settlements is fully eliminated.
While inspecting troops deployed in Southern Lebanon, Halevi emphasized that while the military has reached certain tactical goals, the mission remains ongoing. "The goal set by the political leadership is to ensure no direct attacks on our settlements," he said. "We have reached that position, but we may have to remain here to secure it."
Addressing soldiers on the front lines, the military chief underscored the necessity of dismantling the infrastructure used by armed groups. "There is no ceasefire on the battlefield. You must continue to fight," Halevi directed. "Direct and indirect threats must be eliminated, and the operative infrastructure must be destroyed."
The human cost of the escalation continues to rise. Since March 2, at least 2,290 people have been killed in Lebanon due to Israeli strikes. The conflict has triggered a massive humanitarian crisis, displacing approximately 1.2 million people—nearly a fifth of the country’s population.
