Prime Minister Meets Young Anushree Driven by Her Letter, Gifts Her a Harmonium

A short letter transformed an ordinary day into an unforgettable milestone for Anushree Roy, a fifth-grade student from Rangpur. After writing to the Prime Minister requesting a harmonium to pursue her musical passion, Anushree received a personal invitation to meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who handed over the instrument to her in person.

​Anushree, a student at Purba Nabanidas Government Primary School in Gangachara Upazila, Rangpur, met the Prime Minister alongside her parents on Thursday afternoon (August 6) at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

​Anushree achieved remarkable success in the National Primary Education Medal 2026 competition, securing first place in Patriotic Song and third place in Nazrul Geeti.

​During the award ceremony held on July 15 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre, Anushree handed a letter addressed to the Prime Minister through an official. In her message, she shared her devotion to music, expressed her urgent need for a harmonium, and conveyed her wish to meet him. Upon reading the note, the Prime Minister extended an official invitation to Anushree and her family.

​An emotional Anushree shared that she never expected her letter would reach the Prime Minister, let alone prompt an invitation. She explained that while she deeply needed a harmonium for practice, her family’s financial constraints prevented them from purchasing one. Encouraged by her father’s stories of the Prime Minister's humanitarian acts, she took the initiative to write, hoping her request would be heard.

​During the audience, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman interacted warmly with Anushree, inquired about her education and musical journey, and encouraged her to continue practicing regularly before presenting her with the harmonium. In turn, Anushree performed a patriotic song in front of the Prime Minister. Her family expressed immense gratitude, noting that this recognition will deeply inspire her pursuit to become an established musician.

​On the same day, Tabiul Islam Rakib, a security guard working at a private firm in the Kuril Bishwa Road area of the capital, also met with the Prime Minister. Rakib had previously posted a video on social media expressing a lifelong dream to meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

​During their meeting, Rakib expressed his gratitude and drew the Prime Minister's attention to a local infrastructure need, appealing for the construction of a bridge over the Panguchi River in his hometown of Morelganj Upazila, Bagerhat, to ease public suffering and ensure safer transit for thousands of residents.
