Government Appoints New Secretaries to Four Ministries and Divisions

The government has appointed new secretaries to four key administrative units: the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.

​The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification announcing these appointments on Thursday (August 6). Among the four newly appointed secretaries, two additional secretaries have been promoted to the rank of secretary prior to their postings.

​According to the notification:Ministry of Housing and Public Works: Md. Obaidur Rahman has been appointed as Secretary. He was previously attached to the Ministry of Public Administration as a Secretary, having earlier served as Secretary to the Ministry of Industries. The post became vacant following the retirement of former Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam on July 30.

Ministry of Primary and Mass Education: Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jasmin Nahar, has been promoted to the rank of Secretary and appointed to this ministry. Meanwhile, former Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md. Sakhawat Hossain has been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.

Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief: Mohammad Saiful Islam, who was serving as Secretary to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, has been transferred to lead the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.

​Energy and Mineral Resources Division: Additional Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Md. Ziaul Haq, has been promoted to Secretary and posted within the same division.
