The government’s failure to implement the "July Charter" is causing widespread public disappointment said Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman Secretary General of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB).
Speaking as the chief guest at the IAB Bhola District North Branch’s biannual conference on Thursday (August 6) Rahman emphasized that the charter is the foundation of a new Bangladesh—a dream born from a mass student-public uprising and the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs.
He criticized the lack of visible progress toward establishing a state free from corruption extortion and discrimination. Rahman urged the government to fulfill public expectations and ensure peaceful environments across educational institutions, warning that ignoring these fundamental demands could trigger accelerated democratic movements.
The conference held at the Bhola District Council Auditorium was chaired by the branch's President Maulana Ataur Rahman Momtaji, and moderated by Secretary Maulana Tariqul Islam. Prominent speakers included regional and central IAB leaders Maulana Sirajul Islam Maulana Abu Mukarram Md. Kamal Uddin and Maulana M Obaidur Rahman.
At the conclusion of the event a new IAB committee for the Bhola District North Branch was announced for the next two years. Maulana Ataur Rahman was elected President, alongside Vice-President Maulana M Obaidur Rahman and Secretary Maulana Tariqul Islam.
