Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud has stated that the country’s gas situation is expected to return to normal within the next two to three days.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Minister announced that a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU/floating LNG terminal), which had encountered mechanical issues, would resume gas supply starting this afternoon following successful repairs.
"Once transmission begins, line pressure will gradually build up in areas where it had dropped, allowing us to overcome the ongoing crisis," Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said.
When asked about the precise timeline for full restoration, he noted, "It will take a minimum of two to three days to return to normal. The supply will be restored to the level it was before the terminal shutdown."
Addressing public concerns over electricity billing, the Minister advised consumers to contact their respective zonal power offices directly if they have any specific complaints regarding their bills. In response to a query regarding his recent meeting with the High Commissioner of India, the Minister clarified that it was a routine interaction. He noted that as neighboring nations, the discussion focused on key areas of mutual interest.
