The National University (NU) administration is accelerating efforts to eliminate session congestion by streamlining communication between the university and its affiliated colleges. To ensure faster administrative services, admissions, and result publications, NU is establishing regional centers across divisional cities. Mymensingh is the latest city to join this initiative.
The Mymensingh Regional Center was officially inaugurated on Thursday (April 30, 2026) morning at Madhya Barera, Amlitala. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah and Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Lutfar Rahman opened the facility by hoisting the national flag and releasing pigeons.
This new center will serve students and faculty from all NU-affiliated colleges and professional institutes across Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, and Netrokona districts. Residents of these areas will no longer need to travel to the main campus in Gazipur for routine university tasks.
Following the inauguration, a ceremony was held at the Advocate Tarek Smriti Auditorium, presided over by VC Dr. ASM Amanullah. Special guests included Mymensingh-6 MP Md. Kamrul Hasan, City Corporation Administrator Md. Rukunozzaman Rokon, and other academic leaders. Speakers noted that the center would make university services faster, easier, and more effective for the entire region.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amanullah emphasized that the university is implementing reforms to make higher education more career-oriented. He also urged the government to increase the education budget to at least 3% of the GDP to ensure sustainable national development through research and long-term planning.
