RAB Seizes Tk 1.5 Crore Worth of Foreign Cigarettes in Chattogram's Riazuddin Bazar

RAB-7 has seized foreign cigarettes of various brands worth an estimated Tk 1.5 crore during a raid in the fruit alley of Riazuddin Bazar, under Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram city.

The raid was carried out on the second and third floors of a building in the area on Monday night based on a tip-off.

Major Jalish Mahmud Khan of RAB-7 said the operation team acted on intelligence information and seized a large quantity of foreign cigarettes illegally imported by evading government duties and taxes.

He said the seized cigarettes have an estimated market value of about Tk 1.5 crore. Efforts are underway to identify those involved in the illegal import and sale of the cigarettes and legal action against them is in progress.
