RAB makes extensive preparations in Chattogram for the safety of voters, deploys 50 patrol teams

RAB-7 has strengthened security in the port city of Chittagong, focusing on the 13th National Parliament Election and referendum. As per the instructions of the Election Commission, special patrols, check posts and intelligence surveillance have been greatly increased at the field level to ensure the safety of the common people and maintain the law and order situation. In a briefing organized at the Enayet Bazar Women's College Center in the city on Wednesday morning, RAB-7 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hafizur Rahman outlined the details of the overall security preparations.

He said that 50 patrol teams have been deployed for the security of a total of 20 parliamentary constituencies in four districts under RAB-7. Out of these, 40 patrol teams are on duty round the clock, giving special importance to 16 constituencies in Chittagong district and the metropolis. In addition to regular patrols to deal with any kind of untoward situation or sabotage, a smart dog squad and a bomb disposal unit have been kept on standby. This special security operation of RAB will continue till February 14.

Strict check posts have been set up at important entrances of the city and upazila to prevent any attempt to destabilize the election environment. Regular searches are being conducted on suspicious persons and vehicles there. Joint patrols are being conducted in coordination with other units of the law enforcement agencies. He further said that maximum security has been ensured so that voters can go to the centers and exercise their voting rights without any fear. Warning that strict legal action will be taken against any kind of violence or sabotage, he said that RAB is on the highest alert to conduct the elections and referendum peacefully.
