Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-7) have arrested a bus driver and his helper after recovering 3,660 Yaba pills from a secret compartment inside a passenger bus in Chattogram's Baklia area.

According to an official press release issued on Tuesday, RAB-7 set up a temporary checkpoint on the Cox's Bazar-Chattogram highway in the Rajakhali area on Monday afternoon, acting on intelligence reports. During the operation, they intercepted a Chattogram-bound "Hanif Plus Paribahan" bus traveling from Cox's Bazar.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the arrest of the driver the 24-year-old Md. Abu Hanif and his 21-year-old helper Md. Mujib. Security forces recovered the Yaba pills, which were wrapped in two bundles and concealed inside a specially modified particleboard compartment built into the right side of the bus's last row.

Authorities also seized the bus with confirming it was being used actively for narcotics transportation. RAB estimates the street value of the confiscated Yaba at approximately 1.1 million BDT.

RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media), ARM Mozaffar Hossain stated that the suspects have been handed over to local law enforcement and that legal action has been initiated against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
