Terrorist hideouts in Salimpur forest will be demolished: RAB DG

The hideout of illegal activities established in Salimpur forest of Sitaku, Chattogram will soon be demolished through legal process, said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) AKM Shahidur Rahman.

The funeral of RAB officer Naib Subedar Md. Motaleb Hossain Bhuiyan, who was killed in the attack on the RAB-7 office in Patenga, Chattogram at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday (January 20). He told reporters after the funeral.

He said, there is a risk in every RAB operation. Our members had the right to shoot in self-defense. But they did not do so due to fear of loss of life and property.

However, we will investigate the entire operation and see if there are any mistakes or errors. If there are any mistakes, we will correct them and conduct the operation more successfully in the future. RAB went there to arrest some terrorists. We have got the names of some of those who carried out the attack. We will definitely arrest them.

The RAB DG said, Subedar Motaleb was martyred. We will bring those responsible for this to justice. We will ensure that their punishment is ensured through judicial proceedings at any cost. The Rapid Action Battalion will monitor the entire matter until the verdict is delivered and we will monitor it until the verdict is implemented. We are always by your side and will continue to fulfill our duty.

Announcing that he will take responsibility for the family of martyr Motaleb, he said, the family of martyr Motaleb has suffered irreparable loss. His wife has lost her husband, the children have lost their father. We will not be able to bring that father or husband. However, we want to confirm that we have taken responsibility for this family and will stand by Motaleb's family.

Expressing his determination to destroy the hideouts of terrorists, he said, "We want to assure you again that we will continue to pursue this case until a fair trial is conducted. And the Salimpur forest, which has become a den of terrorists, will soon be eliminated through legal process those who are living there illegally and carrying illegal weapons. We will destroy this hideout of illegal activities - this is what we have promised you." Earlier on Monday (January 19), during an operation in the Salimpur forest area, a member of RAB-7, Naib Subedar Md. Motaleb Hossain Bhuiyan, was killed in a gunfight with terrorists. Three more RAB members are undergoing treatment at the CMH after being injured. It is learnt that law enforcement agencies are preparing for a joint operation in Salimpur forest in this incident.
