Sheikh Hasina Will Face Trial with Full Security Upon Return: PM's Adviser

Prime Minister's Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman stated that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will face judicial proceedings with full security if she returns to Bangladesh, emphasizing that everyone must abide by whatever verdict the court delivers.

He made these remarks on Tuesday (August 11) afternoon during a weekly press briefing held at the conference room of the Press Information Department (PID) at the Secretariat.

Addressing her potential return, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman assured that Sheikh Hasina would receive full security during trial proceedings and would be entitled to all legal rights guaranteed under the judicial process.

The topic of former cricketer and ex-MP Shakib Al Hasan’s return to the country was also raised during the press conference. In response to a query, the Prime Minister’s Adviser stated that the government sees no reason for concern regarding security for anyone who wishes to return to Bangladesh to face legal proceedings, charges, or trial.

Furthermore, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman criticized Shakib Al Hasan, commenting that he made "baseless" remarks aimed at putting the BNP-led government in a difficult position.

He also mentioned that upon completing six months or 180 days in office, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman himself may present the government’s achievements, limitations, and future plans directly to the public, though a final decision on the matter is yet to be made.
