The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for filing online Value-Added Tax (VAT) returns for the July–September 2026 period to October 25.

According to an official notification issued on Thursday, the revenue authority extended the timeframe to allow taxpayers extra time to submit their returns through the electronic VAT (eVAT) portal smoothly.

The decision follows the recent promulgation of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Ordinance 2026, which updated legal provisions governing return submissions after each tax period. To reflect these legal changes and administrative adjustments were required within the eVAT system software.

The NBR confirmed that taxpayers filing their online returns for the July–September quarter by October 25, 2026 will not face any late penalties or interest fees. The official circular was signed by Sheikh Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Second Secretary of NBR’s Monitoring, Statistics and Coordination Wing.
