Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that the government's aim is to take the country to a strong economic and social position, emphasizing that ensuring people's economic capacity alongside their political rights is essential.

To achieve this, he assured that the government will provide all necessary policy support to encourage local entrepreneurs in investment and job creation.

He made these remarks on Tuesday (August 11) while addressing a contract signing ceremony held at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Secretariat, marking the lease of three closed state-owned jute mills to two private companies.

The Prime Minister stressed that a state becomes strong when the economic capacity of its people is secured. A nation cannot become strong by keeping ordinary citizens in poverty or suppressing their voices, he added.

Reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting genuine local entrepreneurs, Tarique Rahman assured that necessary assistance would be provided to them. Supporting entrepreneurs, he noted, will not only generate employment and guarantee livelihoods for people but also boost the overall economic situation.

"We want to build a country where everyone will be in a better position than they are today. That is our primary goal and objective," he added.

Emphasizing the importance of local investment alongside foreign direct investment, the head of government remarked that foreign investment is certainly welcome and desired by the government. However, domestic investors and entrepreneurs must also be encouraged, and the government will extend all required policy support to facilitate their businesses and investments.
