BAJUS Raises Gold and Silver Prices

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of 22-carat gold jewellery by Tk.1,108 per bhori (11.664 grams) effective from 10:00 am Tuesday.

Under the new rate is one bhori of 22-carat gold including VAT now costs Tk 235,146 up from Tk.234,038 according to UNB. BAJUS attributed the hike to rising prices of locally sourced Tejabi gold. This follows a larger increase of Tk 4,374 on August 8, just three days earlier.

Other gold categories also saw price hikes:

21-carat gold: up Tk 1,049 to Tk 224,590 per bhori 18-carat gold: up Tk 933 to Tk 192,864 per bhori Sanatani gold: up Tk 700 to Tk 157,522 per bhori

Silver jewellery prices were raised as well:

22-carat and 21-carat silver: up Tk 175 each, to Tk 5,074 and Tk 4,841 per bhori respectively 18-carat silver: up Tk 175 to Tk 4,199 per bhori Traditional silver: up Tk 116 to Tk 3,159 per bhori
