A total of 349 Members of Parliament will be eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for August 20, according to Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
He disclosed this information on Tuesday (August 11) afternoon following a meeting with the Acting Speaker regarding the presidential election.
Akhtar Ahmed stated that voting for the presidential election will take place inside the National Parliament session chamber, running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Members of Parliament will cast their votes using three transparent ballot boxes.
He added that preliminary results will be announced on the day of voting, with the Election Commission officially publishing the gazette notification later. A 20-member team from the Election Commission will work to ensure a smooth voting process.
The EC Secretary also noted that since there is no special parliamentary session convened for the presidential election, a gazette regarding the Election Commission's meeting call will be issued today.
