Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, Organizational Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, Administrator of the Chattogram District Council, and Chairman of the Red Crescent Society Chattogram District Unit, paid an inspection visit to the Jemison Red Crescent Maternity Hospital under the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
He visited the hospital on Tuesday (August 11) morning around 9:00 AM.
During the visit, Mahbuber Rahman Shamim toured various departments, inquiring about healthcare services, overall environment, and administrative management. He interacted with doctors, nurses, and staff members, providing necessary directives to ensure proper medical care for patients. He also held a discussion with authorities regarding patient amenities and overall hospital administration.
Speaking during the visit, Mahbuber Rahman Shamim said, "The primary objective of the Red Crescent is to stand by people during disasters and crises. At the same time, ensuring effective, quality, and humane healthcare for the general public is also our responsibility. We want to see a future Bangladesh where no individual dies due to lack of medical treatment, no pregnant mother loses her life, and no newborn leaves a mother's arms."
He emphasized building an accessible and advanced healthcare system that sets a global benchmark, stating, "Health matters for everyone."
Recalling the hospital's past reputation, Shamim noted, "At one time, the service quality of Jemison Red Crescent Maternity Hospital was so advanced that it surpassed many government institutions. It is the responsibility of our doctors and staff to restore that lost quality. Anderkilla is the heart of Chattogram city. If we can ensure quality healthcare in this area, people will not need to go elsewhere for medical treatment."
He stressed that there will be no compromise on service quality, urging staff to prioritize patient care. He assured that necessary steps will be taken to make Jemison Maternity Hospital a modern, user-friendly, and trusted institution.
Hospital Management Committee member Jahangir Alam Babar, Chief Medical Officer and Acting Director Dr. Naz Sohani Sultana, Chief Administrative Officer Ashraf Uddoula Sujon, and Assistant Administrative Officers were present during the visit.
