NU Launches Cyber Security Clubs Across Affiliated Colleges to Protect Students

National University (NU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ASM Amanullah has announced the launch of cyber security clubs across all affiliated colleges in Bangladesh. This initiative aims to equip students with critical digital safety skills and combat rising cybercrimes.

The announcement was made Sunday during a cyber security seminar at Lalmatia Government Women's College in Dhaka where the VC officially inaugurated the campus's new Cyber Security Club. The seminar was organized by the Cyber Security Club of the NU Institute of Forensic Science and Cyber Security.

Prof Amanullah highlighted that sophisticated online threats—such as financial scams identity theft, and data breaches—pose significant risks to society. He emphasized that true digital progress requires responsible online behavior an understanding of cyber ethics and strict data protection.

“There is no alternative to ensuring cyber security if we are to fully benefit from technology,” he stated, stressing the vital need for regular training and workshops at educational institutions.

The event featured keynote presentations from cyber security expert Tanvir Hasan Zoha and Bangladesh Police Staff College Director Md Mahbubul Alam. It was chaired by College Principal Prof Sultana Mahmuda Yasmin with NU Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossain attending as a special guest. Through these clubs NU hopes to foster an aware generation capable of building a digitally secure Bangladesh.
