The National University (NU) is implementing extensive reforms to overcome the stagnation in the education sector caused by 17 years of planned politicization, according to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. ASM Amanullah.
Speaking at a view-exchange meeting with college teachers at Shaheed Zia Degree College in Gabtoli, Bogra, on Thursday, the VC stated that the academic environment and administrative transparency have been severely weakened due to prolonged neglect.
"The National University is working relentlessly to rescue the education system from this deadlock," Dr. Amanullah said. He stressed that NU is no longer merely an examination body, but a platform focused on modernizing curriculums, expanding digital education, and ensuring administrative accountability to prepare students for global competition.
Highlighting the critical role of educators, he noted, "To develop good students, we first need skilled, honest, and dedicated teachers." He outlined ongoing initiatives to ensure regular teacher training, research involvement, and technology-based instruction.
During his address, the VC also paid tribute to martyred President Ziaur Rahman, noting that his declaration of independence from the Kalurghat radio station gave crucial direction to the nation during the 1971 Liberation War. He urged educators to properly present this unadulterated history to the new generation.
The meeting, chaired by Acting Principal Md. Abdul Bari, brought together local educators and senior NU officials to discuss enhancing academic dynamics and creating a more student-friendly environment. Following the discussions, the VC planted trees on the college campus.
