


Pabna Press Club, one of the country’s oldest journalist organisations, is set to celebrate its 65th founding anniversary with a three-day programme from May 1 to May 3.
The will begin on Friday (May 1) at 10:00am with a cake-cutting ceremony at the Press Club premises.
On Saturday (May 2), a colourful procession will start from the Press Club at 10:00am. A friendship meeting will follow at 3:30pm at the auditorium. A cultural programme featuring music performances is scheduled for 6:45pm the same day.
The will conclude on Sunday (May 3) with a family reunion, raffle draw and prize distribution at the Press Club auditorium.
Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, will attend as chief guest on May 2. The event will be chaired by Press Club President Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar, while MP Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas will speak as the main guest.
Freedom fighter Anjan Chowdhury Pintu, former president of the Press Club and an honorary life member, will inaugurate the programme.
State Minister for Social Welfare Barrister Farzana Sharmin Putul and MPs AKM Selim Reza Habib, Abu Taleb Mondal, Mohammad Nazibur Rahman and Muhammad Ali Asgar are expected to attend as special guests.
Other invited guests include Advocate Arifa Sultana Ruma, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Md. Sayed Bin Abdullah, District Council Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Mohammad Zahurul Islam Bishu, Deputy Commissioner Md. Aminul Islam and Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Zahid.
Artists Sadia Sultana Liza and Muhin Khan will perform at the cultural.
Press Club President Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar said preparations have been completed. He noted that the club was established on May 1, 1961, alongside the formation of the then Bangladesh Journalists Association in Pabna. Since its founding, the club has played a key role in promoting professional journalism in the district.
