Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Rifat has announced a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, gambling, and theft in Singra. The declaration came during a meeting of the Upazila Law and Order Committee held on Wednesday.
The meeting addressed rising concerns over the theft of irrigation transformers from local farms, which has significantly impacted the livelihoods of farmers. Members also highlighted a surge in drug trafficking and the growing trend of online gambling addiction among the youth.
In response, the UNO directed the Singra Police Station to intensify night patrols and launch immediate operations against criminal activities. "The administration remains firm in ensuring public safety and protecting the assets of our citizens," he stated.
The session, chaired by the UNO, commenced at 10:30 AM at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom. Attendees included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nishat Anjum, Upazila Health Officer Dr. Mujahidul Islam, and Inspector (Investigation) Md. Shafiq. Representatives from the BNP, local union chairmen, and Singra Press Club President Molla Md. Emran Ali Rana also participated in the discussion.
