A depression over the Bay of Bengal has triggered widespread, unseasonal rainfall across Bangladesh, including Dhaka, which experienced a heavy downpour on the first day of November.

The capital recorded 32mm of rain by 6:00pm, while the highest accumulation, a significant 166mm, was recorded in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj. Heavy to very heavy rainfall hit five major divisions Dhaka, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, and Rangpur causing disruption for commuters caught without protection.

Although maritime warning signals have been lowered as the current low-pressure area weakens over West Bengal, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasts that a slight drop in day and night temperatures is likely.

Furthermore, the BMD warns that another low-pressure area may form over the east-central Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours, signaling potential continued wet conditions into the coming week.
