


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit the flood-affected upazilas of Hathazari Fatikchhari and Banshkhali in Chittagong on August 9. Press Secretary Saleh Shibli confirmed the schedule marking this as Rahman's first official visit to the region since assuming office.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will distribute emergency relief and address a brief public rally. He will also officially hand over 100 newly constructed homes to families displaced by the recent floods with a specific focus on the West Banshkhali area.
Local authorities are finalizing logistical arrangements including the preparation of a landing helipad. Chittagong Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Sharif Uddin stated that the administration is making full preparations to facilitate the visit and is currently awaiting the finalized itinerary.
Local political leaders are also organizing a reception. South District BNP Convener Idris Mia confirmed that party officials met at the Prime Minister’s Gulshan office on Monday to coordinate their efforts. Both the local administration and party officials are working swiftly to ensure the smooth delivery of government assistance to the flood victims.
