Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad on Tuesday assured that the overall law and order situation in the country remains fully under control, with law enforcement agencies placed on high alert to counter any subversive activities.

The minister made these remarks while addressing reporters during a press briefing on contemporary issues at his ministry in the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon (August 4).

"Intelligence agencies and law enforcement forces are constantly vigilant to combat extremism and maintain internal security," he said. Responding to a question about heightened security measures for police personnel, Ahmad clarified that it is a standard operational practice. He noted that regular advisories are issued to ensure officers on patrol or duty are not left unattended, adding that the move should not be misinterpreted.

Dismissing any threat from banned political organizations, the Home Minister stated that they have no scope to carry out covert operations. Beyond occasional activity on social media from abroad, they lack the capacity to exert any influence on the ground, he added.

Regarding recent incidents involving the NCP, Ahmad assured that a proper investigation will be conducted to examine the events and appropriate action will follow.

When asked about the presidential election, the minister noted that the matter falls strictly within the jurisdiction of the Election Commission.
