PM Tarique Rahman Discusses Sustainable Water Management with Experts

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a crucial meeting with water management and environmental experts at the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday August 4 to address Bangladesh's pressing water challenges.

Led by the social development organization Footsteps Bangladesh the delegation included engineers urban planners and environmentalists. They presented actionable recommendations for sustainable water management emphasizing the need for modern technology climate adaptation and better inter-agency coordination.

Key discussions focused on restoring canals stabilizing rivers and dams, and upgrading urban drainage systems. Experts also highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive wastewater treatment rainwater harvesting, and integrated urban planning to keep pace with rapid urbanization.

Prime Minister Rahman assured the delegation of the government's full support in implementing these solutions prioritizing environmental protection and safe water access for all citizens.

Senior officials including State Minister for Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and BNP Special Secretary Belayet Hossain attended the meeting.

Prominent experts present included Footsteps Bangladesh leaders Fasbir Eskander, Shah Rafayat Chowdhury and Mohammad Taki Yasir former World Bank Chief Engineer Tariq Bin Yusuf UIU Professor Mujibur Rahman; and representatives from Red Orange Youth for NDC and Garbageman.
