Pakistan's batters finally found form on day two of the second Test against West Indies of closing just 78 runs behind the host's first-innings total of 344. An unbeaten 168-run stand between Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam powered the comeback and ending the day at 266 for 2.
Shafique reached his sixth Test century and first since 2024, late in the session with driving confidently off Roach and handling Warrican's spin with ease. He brought up his hundred with a boundary through midwicket after a tense wait on 99.
Babar Azam ending the day unbeaten on 86 just 14 runs from his first century in four years. He targeted bowler Jayden Seales early and grew steadily into his innings by showing composure rarely seen from him in recent seasons.
Earlier team West Indies had looked well-placed after half-centuries from Justin Greaves and Roston Chase added 105 runs to their overnight total. But Pakistan's bowlers hit back with Ali Usman, Ubaid Shah and Sajid Khan sharing the wickets to bowl the hosts out for 344. Sajid Khan finished with 4 for 85.
Pakistan's innings began strongly too. Azan Awais gave the side a bright start with an attacking half-century before being dismissed lbw to Warrican. From there Shafique and Babar took control, batting through the final session without losing a wicket in one of Pakistan's best batting displays in recent years.
