Pakistan Beat West Indies to Level the Series

Pakistan completed an eight-wicket win over West Indies on the fourth morning in Port of Spain and levelling the two-match Test series 1-1. It was Pakistan's first away Test win in three years and marked a strong start to Babar Azam's second stint as captain.

West Indies' last two batters fell quickly to Ali Usman, leaving Pakistan a small target of 75. Despite early wickets from Jayden Seales, Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique guided the chase with Babar hitting two sixes off Jomel Warrican to finish the match.

Pakistan had lost the first Test heavily but reworked their strategy for the decider. Reading a spin-friendly pitch Pakistan dropped experienced pacers Mohammad Abbas and Khurram Shahzad with bringing in spinners Sajid Khan and Ali Usman who together took 14 West Indian wickets. Debutants Ubaid Shah and Awais Zafar also featured while Shafique returned to replace injured skipper Shan Masood.

Shafique's unbeaten 160 was the standout innings, anchoring a 183-run partnership with Babar that gave Pakistan a first-innings lead. Babar credited the team's post-match discussions and extra practice against spin bowling for the turnaround.

Batting collapses remain a concern Pakistan lost seven wickets for 38 runs in the first Test but Babar said the team is focused on adapting to different conditions ahead of their upcoming tour to England.

The result ends Pakistan's eight-match losing streak away from home and gives them momentum heading into the England series.
