There is no legal bar to broadcasting speeches by ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, provided they do not contain hate speech, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Aminul Islam said today.

He made the remarks during a press conference at his office on Tuesday (August 4).

The Chief Prosecutor stated that the tribunal is currently working on mechanisms to confiscate the assets of convicted individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, in order to distribute them among the victims' families. He also expressed optimism regarding the swift conclusion of the trial involving former military officer Ziaul Ahsan.

Briefing reporters on the progress of all crimes against humanity cases, Aminul Islam said that all trials related to the July murder cases would be completed within the next year. Furthermore, verdicts in three additional cases will be announced within a month.

Noting that the trial of absconding individuals is proceeding in accordance with the law, the Chief Prosecutor clarified that verdicts cannot be executed until the fugitives are apprehended. However, he added that measures to confiscate assets and enforce court fines are being initiated promptly.
