Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has called for coordinated efforts among government departments to expedite ongoing and proposed development projects in Lakshmipur district.

Speaking as the chief guest at the District Law and Order Committee meeting on Tuesday (Aug 4) the minister emphasized that swift project implementation requires sincere cooperation from all public officials.

He outlined several major educational and infrastructural initiatives during his address. Academic activities for the district’s new university have officially commenced and the acquisition of approximately 150 acres of land near the municipal town for a permanent campus will begin shortly. Furthermore operations at the new Lakshmipur Nursing and Medical Colleges are set to launch soon.

Highlighting regional transport infrastructure the minister noted that construction on the Lakshmipur-Chandraganj four-lane highway is steadily progressing. A separate initiative to build a 36-foot-wide road connecting Lakshmipur to Gauripur via Ramganj and Haziganj is also slated to begin shortly.

"Together with Lakshmipur-2 MP Abul Khair Bhuiyan, we have secured crucial development projects for this district. However these cannot be completed on time without the utmost dedication of government departments" Minister Annie said.

Issuing a stern warning against graft he declared a zero-tolerance policy toward irregularities and urged all officials to operate with absolute honesty transparency and accountability.

Deputy Commissioner S.M. Mehedi Hasan chaired the meeting, which was also attended by MP Abul Khair Bhuiyan Superintendent of Police Shahadat Hossain Selim, the Civil Surgeon and other senior district officials.
