Following the tragic death of a teenage patient health authorities in Faridpur shut down five unauthorized private healthcare facilities on Tuesday.

Led by Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahamudul Hasan alongside district administration magistrates the drive targeted institutions operating without proper licensing and exhibiting severe mismanagement near the Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

The closed facilities are Al-Zara Specialized Hospital Medico Hospital and Diagnostic Center Lily Private Hospital and Diagnostic Center Holicity Private Hospital, and Ma-Moni Digital Diagnostic Center. Authorities instructed these centers to immediately transfer all admitted patients to Faridpur Medical College Hospital or other recognized, safe facilities.

This crackdown was catalyzed by the death of 17-year-old college student Ayesha Afrin during a surgical procedure at Al-Zara Specialized Hospital on July 16. A subsequent official probe uncovered dangerous irregularities at the clinic including operating room mismanagement and a critical shortage of patient monitors qualified doctors, and nurses.

Dr. Hasan confirmed the immediate suspension of all activities at Al-Zara. He announced that legal action will be initiated against the attending surgeon, Dr. Atiqul Ahsan. "Though an experienced assistant professor, it was highly improper for him to perform surgery in such an ill-equipped facility," the Civil Surgeon stated.

The remaining four clinics were sealed strictly for operating without valid licenses.

"We will shut down any facility compromising patient safety or operating outside government guidelines," Dr. Hasan told reporters, assuring the public that rigorous, regular inspections will continue to guarantee safe healthcare standards across the district.
