Red Crescent Distributes Flood Relief in Baghaichhari, Rangamati

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) has distributed emergency relief materials to 500 flood-affected families in Rangamati’s Baghaichhari Upazila.

The distribution took place on Tuesday at the Baghaichhari Upazila Auditorium, aimed at supporting communities devastated by recent severe floods and waterlogging.

To assist with immediate post-disaster recovery, each family received a comprehensive aid package. This included a seven-day supply of essential food items such as rice, lentils and cooking oil along with a tarpaulin for temporary shelter and a dignity kit containing vital health and hygiene products.

Nizam Uddin Babu, a BDRCS life member, presided over the event. Senior branch officials including Vice President Shafiul Alam and General Secretary Saiful Islam Shakil personally handed out the relief. Local political figures, including Baghaichhari Upazila BNP President Omar Ali and General Secretary Jabedul Alam, were also present to support the initiative alongside hundreds of beneficiaries and local volunteers.

Addressing the gathering, officials reaffirmed the organization's commitment to humanitarian service. “Standing by vulnerable people during natural disasters is a core duty of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society” a spokesperson stated. “We will continue our support to ease the suffering of those affected by these floods.”

Beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the emergency supplies will play a critical role in sustaining their families through the current crisis.
