Residents of Gopalganj's Muksudpur Upazila continue to suffer due to the prolonged neglect of a crucial road stretching from Farid Mia Complex to Atadanga Baor. For years, the dilapidated road has lacked an effective drainage system also severe waterlogging even after light rainfall. This persistent issue has caused immense hardship for commuters, students and pedestrians, prompting urgent calls for modern drainage and immediate infrastructure repairs.

In response to growing public frustration, Muksudpur Municipality Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Ashik Kabir conducted a field inspection of several municipal wards on Tuesday. Accompanied by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Rayhan Islam Shovon and Municipal Executive Officer A.H.M. Rakibul Islam, the administrator visited key areas including Sadar Bazar and Gopinathpur.

During inspections the officials reviewed ongoing drain-cleaning operations and identified severely waterlogged zones. Administrator Kabir directed municipal staff to take swift action to alleviate public suffering, emphasizing the need to maintain momentum in the current cleanliness drives.

The inspection also highlighted a long-term solution like proposed re-excavation of the canal connecting Tengrakhola Chowrangi to Atadanga Baor. Kabir assured residents that he would consult higher authorities to expedite this project. Restoring the canal is expected to drastically improve rainwater drainage during the monsoon season and significantly reduce waterlogging across the municipality.

The local administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring a clean, safe and livable urban environment through continuous infrastructure development and regular maintenance.
